While Rumeli Kavağı is the last residential unit located in a coastal of Istanbul’s Anatolian side also it has a great view of Bosporus, Rumeli Lantern Village is a natural wonder in the same side of Istanbul but the village has a coast of the Black Sea and the Bosporus.

You can reach Rumeli Lantern Village both with personal vehicle on Sarıyer or Forest Road and by public transportations which are moved from next to the metro station in 4.Levent.

Things to do in “Rumeli Lantern Village”

When you see the piles of wood at the entrance of the village you think “natural gas didn’t come to this village.” But after approximately five meters you can see the wall found woods belongs to a bakery. You can also buy a delicious bread baked 100 percent in wood- fired oven and butter or cheese from the grocery store. In cafes lined up side by side on the village square, you can have a breakfast with the bread, butter and cheese in a café.

You should have arrived to the village the earliest time you can go. A crowd that doesn’t bother is weekend, during the week various sports activities are organized in the village. While you have a breakfast, it is recommended that you should meet very peasants.

Large and small animals are stabilized you the idea that you are in a village. Before climbing the castle, you can taste grape in the elderly Aunt’s house not ever tasted anywhere. In fact, almost every yard of the house has the grape type. The grape is only grown in the climate of this special region, grown in other places have been tried but it didn’t work.

The historical castle which hosts many videos, films and television series was officially deprived of all military, demolished and abandoned. Liquor bottles and rubbish around the castle are evidence of contempt.

When you climb to the bastions of the castle and walk out toward the starting point of the Black Sea, you meet a majestic view. If you want to advance to the area in the rocky below the castle, you can literally feet on the Black Sea.

Despite a loaf of bread you eat in the morning, you will be hungry like a wolf because of the oxygen- rich air so you will have to leave the castle. However, surely you won’t forget the sound of waves.

When you return to the village, you can eat “muhlama” in a modest restaurant located just above the mole where you order fishes. You will tell the favor of “muhlama” during long years.
